How to Find It

Address:
The Grain Store, The Hatchery, Fir Lane, Middle Aston, OX25 5QL

Directions from Spring Hill Farm by Car:

15 mins by car – 8 miles

  • Turn right out of the farm entrance.
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto the B4031.
  • Continue on the B4031 all the way to Deddington.
  • At the traffic lights in Deddington, turn right onto the A4260 (Oxford Road).
  • Continue for approximately 3 miles. As you approach the end of the dual carriageway, slow down—just before it ends, there is a left turn for Middle Aston.
  • Turn left and follow the road into Middle Aston.  You will feel as though you are leaving the village but keep going - just before you reach the next village of Steeple Aston, you will find Hatch End Industrial Estate on your right, where the café is located!
Directions Back to Spring Hill Farm:
If you want to return directly to Spring Hill Farm, turn right when exiting the café—not left, as you did when you arrived. This is necessary because you cannot rejoin the A4260 (Oxford Road) at the same point due to it being a dual carriageway.
  • Turn right out of Hatch End Industrial Estate.
  • Take the first right (you’ll see a Church on your right).
  • Follow this road until it reconnects with the A4260.
  • Turn right onto the A4260 and head towards Deddington.
  • At the traffic lights in Deddington, turn left and continue through Hempton.
  • After leaving Hempton village, take the second right(signposted for South Newington).
  • Spring Hill Farm is along this road on the left-hand side.
Directions by Bicycle (or a More Scenic Route by Car)

7 miles

  • Turn right out of the farm entrance.
  • At the end of the road, turn left onto the B4031.
  • Take the first right turn towards Nether Worton.
  • Go up and over the steep hill (you can do it!).
  • In Nether Worton, take the left-hand turn at the triangle onto the gated road.
  • There may be a few gates to open along this lovely country road; please make sure to close them behind you, as they are often keeping livestock in.
  • Follow the gated road all the way along and at the end, turn right towards Duns Tew.
  • At the end of this road, turn left into Duns Tew.
  • Travel through the village, passing The White Horse pub—another great option for a drink or bite to eat!
  • Continue straight through Duns Tew village.
  • As you leave the village, you will meet the main Oxford to Banbury road (A4260). Cross this road carefully and head towards North Aston.
  • Take the first right upon reaching North Aston, passing Nicholsons Nurseries (another great place to stop! Their Yurt Café is superb if you want to try it another time!).
  • Continue along this road to Middle Aston.
  • Turn left at the T-junction.
  • Follow the road down the dip and up the other side.
  • The Hatch End Industrial Estate (home to The Grain Store Café) will be on your right.
