Woodland Yoga

There is something rather special about practising yoga outdoors, surrounded by trees, birdsong and the changing seasons.

We're delighted to be offering some Woodland Yoga sessions at Spring Hill Farm, in the peaceful countryside near Barford St Michael.

Whether you already enjoy yoga or simply want an opportunity to slow down, breathe and spend some time outdoors, our sessions are designed to be welcoming, relaxed and accessible.

The yoga

Sessions are led by Brek, a professional yoga teacher with a background in ballet and experience teaching people of different ages, abilities and levels of experience.

Brek teaches a range of yoga styles including vinyasa flow, hatha and yin, with breathwork and relaxation incorporated into her classes.

Our Woodland Yoga sessions are gentle and suitable for all abilities, including those who have never tried yoga before. There's no need to be particularly flexible or experienced — simply come along, move at your own pace and enjoy the surroundings.

More than just yoga

We want Woodland Yoga to be about more than simply an hour-long class.

The peaceful woodland provides a natural setting to step away from everyday life, spend some time outdoors and enjoy a slower pace. After the yoga, you're welcome to stay for refreshments and take a little time to enjoy the surroundings before heading home.

The setting

The sessions take place in our natural woodland area at Spring Hill Farm, Barford St Michael.

The ground is natural and uneven, and may be muddy, slippery or rough depending on the weather. There may also be tree roots, brambles, nettles and other woodland features. We ask everyone to take care, wear suitable footwear and come prepared for an outdoor environment.

If the weather isn't suitable for practising outdoors, we'll move the session into one of our barns where possible. The barn doors can be opened to let in the fresh air and provide views across the surrounding greenery, so you can still enjoy a peaceful setting.

What to bring

What you need to bring will depend a little on the season and weather, but we recommend:

  • A yoga mat — spares are available if needed
  • A rug or blanket to place under your mat and/or keep warm
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather
  • Sensible footwear for walking to the woodland
  • A bottle of water if you'd like one

Please allow a little extra time around the yoga session for walking to and from the woodland and to enjoy any refreshments afterwards.
