The next chapter of our tree-planting journey - autumn 2023
We're so pleased to be adding another chapter to our tree-planting journey, especially on a day like today when we can witness the beauty of previous planting. Our 'Connie Copse' and 'Barley Bushes,' plantations, planted back in 2017, are flourishing and becoming quite the visual masterpiece!
The environmental benefits of tree planting areas can be truly remarkable and significantly contribute to the promotion of biodiversity. Our plantations will play a crucial role in establishing essential habitats for a wide range of creatures, from small birds and other mammals to a diverse array of insects.
Our latest plantation 'Coronation Copse' marks the establishment of our third tree planting area at Spring Hill Farm. This new area will see a variety of trees planted including Oak, Sycamore, Sweet chestnut, Alder, Birch, lime and hornbeam. Some of the smaller shrubs and trees will include hazel, spindle, hawthorn, dogwood, Field maple and Crab apple.
Following the successful establishment of 'Connie Copse' and 'Barley Bushes' in 2017, we've witnessed their positive impact, providing habitats for various creatures, from small birds and mammals to diverse insect populations. The addition of 'Coronation Copse' marks an exciting progression in our conservation efforts.
It was great to host our volunteer planting morning at Spring Hill Farm on 13th November 2023, which saw us quickly finish off the plantation. Special thanks to Harry Poole from Nicholsons who expertly guided us through the process, ensuring our trees have the best chance to thrive.
It is heartening to see some trees in Connie Copse thriving and while some face a few struggles, overall, the plantation is looking fantastic. Here's to an even greener and more vibrant future for the farm.
