“The Pie Pub” in Milton
Just a 10-minute drive from Spring Hill Farm, The Marlstone Tavern is a much-loved local spot and widely known as The Pie Pub.
The pies are absolutely delicious and the portions are very generous – definitely arrive hungry… seriously!
The pub itself is a treat to visit. It’s one of the oldest pubs you’ll likely step into, dating back to the late 1500s when Elizabeth I was on the throne. Despite its age, the pub
has more than kept up with the times – in fact, it may even be ahead of them. Have you ever been somewhere that live-streams its menu? Yes, that’s a thing! Check it out !
Their freshly made pies use locally sourced ingredients and are baked to order wherever possible. This does mean that certain pies occasionally sell out, so the menu can move around a little (more of a movable menu than a movable feast!). Whatever they have on any given day, you can count on something delicious.
They also offer a great drinks selection – the perfect pairing for a pie, an easy sip while you’re not eating, or something to enjoy while you wait for a table.
A quick note on bookings: they do take lunchtime reservations, but not evening ones. Don’t try to convince them otherwise – trust us, we’ve been local for years, and even 20
years ago when they were based in Deddington they didn’t budge! That said, you shouldn’t struggle to get a table. If it’s busy, they’ll give you an idea of the wait time, and there’s a lovely bar area where you can relax with a drink until your table is ready.
Please note: after 7:30pm The Pie Pub becomes an adult-only venue, they say this is to provide a peaceful, grown-up atmosphere in the evening.
If you’re looking for a cosy, welcoming place to eat or unwind during your stay at Spring
Hill Farm, The Pie Pub is hard to beat.
Please check the pub’s own website for the most up-to-date menus, opening hours and
special events.
